Sword of Destiny

This is the second prequel before The Witcher series begins. This is a small review because it is hard not to give too much away, and the book is basically character development for the series that I will start the first full book of soon!

I liked this better than the first prequel in that there is actually some through thought, and we revisit some of the characters established in The Last Wish (Witcher 0.5). It is still a short story collection, which is not really my thing, but I feel I am better prepared to dive in to the Witcher collection and immerse myself fully. This series better be worth it, with two prequels and a Netflix series starring Henry Cavill to get to the actual first book. I remain positive.

Pros & Cons & Potential Spoilers

Pros

  • Able to connect more plot points between stories now, but probably because I read the first prequel
  • We revisit some former characters, learn more about them and like them more
  • Geralt gets a ward!!

Cons

  • Personally, dislike short story collections – but if it is your cup of tea, drink up!
  • There is a lot of angst about “Destiny” in this one, and I for one prefer a less angsty Witcher
  • There are parts of each story that draaaaaaaaaaaggg on…..
