By Susan Wiggs
This book is about Natalie Harper discovering herself. In a bookshop. That happens to have a really attractive repairman…Just a normal slice of life. Oh and the bookshop is rumored to contain buried treasure. Sometimes life is really difficult…
Sometimes a reader needs an easy read that is just an escape, with predictability wrapping around us like a warm blanket. I did not need that right now, so I was unimpressed. I always have high hopes for books about books…but this one was kinda meh.
Starting with a unique tragedy, unfortunately after that the plot follows according to rote. There are some memorable characters. Ethics and integrity are valued. The main character discovers herself before she realizes she is already in love with the delicious repairman. The failing bookstore is magically saved by buried treasure. Everything is tied in neat bows by the end.
